Onassis ONX brings together artists, scientists, and legal minds working at the edges of simulation and appropriation. Studio DEMO x Onassis ONX conversations consider who gets to model the world, and who gets to claim it.
What does ownership mean when culture is built on borrowing? Moderated by curator and Director of the Mozilla Festival Zeina Abi Assy, this conversation brings together rapper and conceptual artist SHIRT and lawyer Anibal Luque to examine how AI is reshaping questions of authorship, sampling, and creative labor. Drawing from the Mozilla Foundation’s Imaginative Intelligences report, this conversation considers how appropriation and bootleg culture intersect with emerging technologies, and the complexities of IP and copyright in these today. Who profits when machines learn from artists? And what does it mean to remix in an age of generative AI?
