MHYSA

MHYSA is the musical persona of artist E. Jane. Experimentation and play guide her creative process as a writer, vocalist, and producer. Her sound is expressive and soft. Through a blend of electronics, noise, R&B, pop, and soul, she explores interior spaces—what lies beneath the surface and where we go to hide and feel safe, feel seen. In her world, nothing is that serious, but at the same time, everything is so serious, ya know? Her debut album “fantasii” came out to critical acclaim on Texas label Halcyon Veil in 2017, followed by her intimate “Nevaeh” LP in 2020 on London’s Hyperdub. She premiered 2023’s “Release Control” EP with live performances at Pioneer Works in Brooklyn and Utrecht experimental festival Le Guess Who?, curated by Slauson Malone 1. She released the “UES” EP on cassette with Bunny Jr. Tapes in 2024. She is also one-half of the experimental performance and music duo SCRAAATCH alongside chuki, who also regularly contributes to her solo music. Originally from Prince George’s County, Maryland, MHYSA lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.
