BEAM is a next-generation studio shaping the public life of emerging science.
Founded by Annie Chen and Zoe Lee, BEAM partners with climate tech innovators, scientists, policymakers, and local communities to shape how new ideas move beyond the lab and into the world. Through research, design, systems thinking, and new media storytelling, BEAM builds worlds people can step into—where new technologies can be encountered, understood, and stewarded forward at scale.
Drawing from their backgrounds in biology, behavioral decision sciences, and design, the duo brings interdisciplinary fluency and sociotechnical expertise to collaborations that span ocean restoration, biotechnology, astrobiology, and climate governance. Their ultimate mission: to align scientific possibility with collective life.
Their work has been supported by NASA, NOAA, MIT Media Lab, EY Intelligent Realities Lab, Science History Institute, MacDowell, NYFA, Interlace Fund, and more. They are Research Affiliates at the MIT Media Lab’s Community Biotechnology Initiative and in the Year 12 Creative Science track of NEW INC.
